Shopping centres
A few metres from 2H Living you can find the Corte Inglés, a large department store famous all over Spain, and a reference point for quality, variety and customer service.
The parent company has stores all over the Iberian Peninsular which offer hundreds of renowned clothing brands, accessories, beauty products, a supermarket, perfumery, sports equipment, kitchen appliances and all the facilities you can expect to find in any large shoppimg centre.
The city’s shopping centre par excellence is the Espacio León.
Located in one of León’s most modern areas, Eras de Renueva, this shopping centre is a great leisure alternative to the city. Here, you can find all the top names and brands which are commonly found in other cities all over Spain. There is also a good range of restaurants and bars. VIPS Smart offers a large choice of very good value-for-money meals and snacks.
Leisure and entertainment
One of the best leisure time activities offered in the city is the cinema.Very close to 2H Living is the Van Gogh cinema, open since 1989, and a reference point in the city for cinema-goers. Take in the latest releases on each visit.
León has several cultural centres- the San Francisco Theatre, El Albéitar Theatre, the Emperador Theatre and the Ciudad de León Auditorium.
This last centre hosts large corporate events, music festivals, musicals, plays, shows…
At the times of year for local festivities to be held in León, the range of activities on offer increases notably. At Easter you can enjoy the solemnity, respect and authenticity which are the hallmarks of this unique celebration.
In June the city celebrates its local “fiestas”, held in honour of St. John and St. Paul. Throughout the week the city’s streets are filled with music and evening concerts, culminating in the famous bonfire on the night of the 23rd June..
We must mention another local celebration of great importance for the people of León- St. Froilan. Held in October, this local “fiesta” commemorates the city’s Medieval past, as well as its earlier origins and cultures.
Interesting places to visit
The province of León offers a wide range of tourist attractions, but most remarkable is its great natural beauty.When we enter the city, what we discover is a representation of its history conveyed by its living culture today. This type of tourism lends the city a great, incalculable cultural richness.
Some of the most visited sites and buildings are the Cathedral of Santa María de Regla, San Marcos Convent, the San Isidoro Basilica, Casa Botines, San Marcelo Church and many more sights on a long list of places which simply have to be seen when you visit the city. Apart from all these wonderful buildings, there are also two museums where you can contemplate the art which marks and defines León’s cultural heritage.
One of these museums is found near Santo Domingo Square, in the Pallarés Building, León Museum. Inside there are countless genuine pieces on display which illustrate and explain the life and traditions of the province from centuries ago. By contrast, there is the MUSAC (Museum of Contemporary Art) in Eras de Renueva. This museum is the expression of modern art and the society we live in today.
